Interactive dance series pops up
Canadian indie Hop To It Productions has struck a deal with regional pubcaster TV Ontario (TVO) to produce a shortform interactive dance series for six- to 12-year-olds called Pop It! (26x7').
The series features three tween hosts, original music and choreography, humour and content designed for the target demographic, according to Hop To It.
"Kids who are six to 12 years old need physical activity to build strength, coordination and confidence, and to lay the groundwork for a healthy lifestyle down the road," said the company's president Susan Nation, also executive producer of Pop It!
"It's important to give them opportunities to be active that fit their personality, ability, age and interests. Dance is a really great option and the talented kids we feature are truly inspirational."
The series is set to debut this fall on TVO's after-school block, TVOKids, which puts a particular emphasis on programming that promotes physical activity, and on Canadian educational nets Knowledge Network and SCN. A live Pop Til You Drop tour is scheduled for this summer.
